Baptism Assistance

Two people will be assigned to be in charge of the baptismal area for one month at a time; one for first service and one for second service.  If you are unable to complete these tasks for any reason, please contact another team member or Carolyn Matthews for help with the responsibilities.  Both people assigned are responsible for the following:

Baptisms:

Whenever a baptism takes place while you are at the church building and the person being baptized is the same gender as you, go to the baptismal area to see if help is needed with personal assistance, location of items in the rooms, location of rest rooms, etc.  If you are assigned to second service and are attending first service, this doesn’t apply to you.

Baptismal Rooms:

Since God has blessed us with new baptisms almost every week, it is extremely important to keep clean towels and gowns available at all times.  At the beginning of the month, straighten up the rooms. If there are supplies out in the entrance area, please put them on the shelves, behind the curtain.  Wash all towels and underwear that are in the green laundry baskets located in each room.  The baptismal gowns can be washed in cold water on gentle cycle and hung to dry if they need it.  If they are sprayed with Lysol after each use and hung to dry, they should not need to be laundered every time.  Be sure to check all baskets for towels, including the basket in the area at the top of the stairs that leads to the baptistery.  When you replace the areas with clean towels, make sure that you put four or five towels in the basket at the top of the stairs also.  The key to the stairwell is located in the men’s dressing room; on the wall near the top of the doorframe.  In each room there are laundry baskets located under the benches and mesh laundry carrying bags that are hanging in each room for your convenience in taking the laundry home and returning it to the church building.  Twice a week or at least prior to Sunday service, straighten up the rooms.  The church office may give you a call when the baptismal room needs attention.
