Worship and Music Ministry
Worship is an important component of life at Providence Road Church. Each Sunday the entire church gathers to celebrate what God has done and to anticipate what God is going to do. Our worship services are planned to help people draw closer to God and His Son, Jesus Christ.
We believe public worship has a dramatic impact on those who gather. While we do not believe our building is sacred we do believe the Holy Spirit is present with us in a unique way when we are gathered for worship. In each of our services we sing, pray, partake of the Lord’s Supper, and hear the Word of God.
The Sunday Morning Experience
We sing songs to God and Jesus. We are grateful for God’s love shown to us in giving us His only Son that we cannot help but lift our voices to the God and His Son, Jesus. Our Sunday morning services are done a cappella, that is, we do not use musical instruments. A cappella singing is a tradition of most Churches of Christ. We do use instrumental worship at youth gatherings, children’s worship, Celebrate Recovery and other special gatherings.
We celebrate communion every Sunday morning. Trays of bread and juice are passed down each pew. The bread represents the body of Jesus freely given. The juice represents Jesus’ blood shed for all people. Communion is open to all believers in Jesus Christ.
The Word of God is shared mainly in the form of a sermon, but also in readings, songs and multi-media. We believe the people of God are challenged and inspired by preaching from the scriptures. To help you follow the sermon we provide an outline on the screen and in our weekly bulletin, the Celebrate.
Each week we take up an offering. We believe all we have belongs to God. We give to show God our thankfulness and to support the ministry of the Providence Road Church.

Can I be involved?
Yes, there are many places for you to participate in worship. We have Praise Teams, the Celebration Chorus, Sound Volunteers, Video Booth Volunteers, Camera Operators and Video Editors.
Praise Team
We have four Praise Teams that lead our singing every Sunday morning. Each Praise Team consists of at least one or more Soprano, Alto, Tenor and Bass. Praise Teams are joined by audition only. To participate on a praise you must attend the majority of Wednesday night singing classes and attend your team’s rehearsal. To learn more or set up an audition contact Nathan Tillotson at ntillotson@prcoc.org.
Celebration Chorus
Our chorus is a seasonal group for Easter, Christmas and special occasion musicals. We also use the chorus as a name for all members of Praise Teams. Anyone is welcome to join the Celebration Chorus. No audition is required. We praise, learn new music and improve our vocal ability every Wednesday night at 7:00 PM at the Providence Road Church.
Sound Volunteers
Our sound team does a great job operating the sound board, microphones and players during our Sunday assemblies and at other events. This is a key position for Sunday worship service. We provide training and a few step-by-step manuals to help folks learn and improve their knowledge. John Langevin leads this team.
Video Booth Volunteers
Our video volunteers provide an important ministry on Sunday morning. They operate the computer that displays song lyrics and other videos on cue during worship. We use ProPresenter to run all the media used at Providence Road on Sunday. We provide training and a quick-guide to help our volunteers learn and improve their skills.
Wednesday Night Praise Class
Every Wednesday night from 7:00 to 8:00 PM we exercise our voices and hearts. We usually begin by warming up vocally then we share in a time of worship. We spend a great deal of time learning new music that will be introduced to the entire church. No audition or special music skills are required for this class. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend.
Thank you for your interest in worship ministry at Providence Road. I pray you will come to know Jesus Christ and desire to worship Him by giving Him your life. Please come and join us in worship.
