On Friday, September 17, 2004, the U.S. Department of Education selected Providence Christian School as a recipient of the 2004 No Child Left Behind Blue Ribbon Award.  The Blue Ribbon, the most prestigious education award in the country, distinguishes Providence Christian School as a leader in Christian education, academic excellence, leadership, teaching, curriculum, parent involvement, and community support.  Providence Christian School was the only private school in Charlotte to be nominated and joins Providence Day and Charlotte Latin School as the only private schools in the Charlotte-area to be awarded the Blue Ribbon.

 
Providence Christian School was nominated by the Council for American Private Education (CAPE), as one of the top 50 private schools in the country back in February 2004.  PCS met the criteria of being in the top 10 percent of schools in the nation as measured by standardized tests of reading and mathematics. 
 

The Blue Ribbon Award represents a great honor for the students, teachers, staff members, and parents of Providence Christian School.  It also shows the dedication and hard work of The Children’s Place, our preschool program that serves two – four year olds and the Providence Road Church of Christ, which we are affiliated with as a local outreach into the community.

The Blue Ribbon Award is the most powerful validation of the hard work and commitment to our focus on providing an excellent education in a Christian environment.  The Blue Ribbon is just the beginning of our journey.  In Jeremiah 29:11, God says, “For I know the plans that I have for you… plans for welfare and not misfortune … to give you a future and a hope.”  Our journey at Providence Christian School is to continue to raise our standards, to reach even greater achievements, but most of all, to provide a future and a hope for our students and their families.
